Ayurveda The science of life

Ayurveda is one of the oldest medical health systems and is more than 3000 years old. The name is composed from two sanskrit words: Ayu means life and Veda means knowledge.

Ayurveda comprises the whole knowledge of the old vedic high culture. It helps to maintain and rebuild our health as well as it prevents illness.

As humans we are used to understand the world by using our intellect in a very logical way. We are trained to believe in rational thinking and facts. Whereas Ayurveda combines scientific principles with faith, trust and intuition.

Ayurvedas main object is to maintain the balance and harmony in the whole being to ensure physical health as well as spiritual well-being.

Rebalancing the individual harmony of the body is the main concern of every Ayurveda therapy. In Ayurveda the five elements, earth, water, fire, air and ether are forming the doshas (bioenergies), which should be working together in an harmonious relation. Every element has the chance to weaken or strengthen the others. An inbalance of the doshas appears with initial discomfort and can lead to serious illness over time.

The ayurvedic physician can sense an inblance in the energy flow by pulse diagnosis. According to this conditions and needs, individual medical and curative treatmens is recommended.

High pressure in everyday life and an unhealthy lifestyle are main factors that can unbalance our physical health. Even small actions can help to rebalance our body and mind.

Shirodhara, the royal forehaed oil flow treatment, is one of the most relaxing and intensive treatments of Ayurveda. It reliefs from sleep disturbance, fatigue, nervousness or exhaustion and strengthens our nervous system. A well-tempered essence out of herbal oils is stream-like spread over the forehead and allows exceptional deep relaxation. The increased temperature of the head leads to a meditation-like state. As a result, any stored inherited burdens can be processed.

The centre of life is touched by our well experienced therapists with the marma-massage.  The internal organs are stimulated by touching the overall 107 marma-points distributed all over the whole human body. New energy can circulate freely in our body again and the immune system is strenghend. After this treatment our guests leave the Ayurveda Garden revitalised and visibly rejuvenated.

Special delight for the palate brings our Ayurveda restaurant: The head chef Mahinda das created the Ayurveda-Cuisien. This kitchen represents equally healthy nutrition and culinary delight. It ideally complements the Ayurveda treatments and creates a sense of well-being among our guests.

After the initial consultation with the ayurvedic physician, the kitchen and restaurant will receive a note for every individual guest. If necessary the preparation of the dishes will be individually adjusted to the respective guest.

The carefully co-ordinated three course meals are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Partly the food is grown in our own organic garden or it is bought freshly every day on the fruit and vegetable market.

Ayurveda teaches us to orientated ourselves to nature: The nature is always in transformation and follows - like Ayurveda - the principle of balance and harmony.

It is the flowing processes which creates life and evolution. Things that harden will get sick and die in the end. Nature does not know straight lines or boundaries. Everything changes and is in a flow. The development of the whole and an individual are equal.

"A human being is a part of the whole, called by us “Universe”, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest — a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." - Albert Einstein

We are an integral part of the nature, which includes that we participate in the natures consciousness, a cosmic consciousness. Will we not do so, we act like in cancer cell that gets seperated and endangers its own habitat.

Ayurveda teaches the following: "Everything you supply yourself with has an effect on you". This does not only include medicine and nutrition. Also thoughts, words and emotions influence us. According to the resonance law, every wish and every thought urges for realization. Control of thoughts, meditation, and trusting your inner guidance can be ways to bring a positive change.

Our meditation exercises are easy to practice but very effective. As far as we can, we are happy to help you to find your individual way to your meditation practice. Over the past few years we have seen, that guests who are good at "letting go" and "accepting" could achieve the best results in their treatment.

Below you find an easy but very effective meditation exercise:

You can practice this meditation while lying down or sitting. This exercise increases body awareness, activates the self-healing powers and helps you to harmonize body, soul and spirit.

You sit upright and your hands lie loosely on your upper legs or you lie flat on your back. You have closed your eyes and focus your attention on your mental eye (around the middle of your forehead).

Imagine that you and your whole being are united at this point. Now,  from this point, look at each part of your body one after the other and feel at one with it. It is very helpful to imagine how a golden light floods in every cell of your body. Your consciousness sits in the middle of your mind's eye and from there you gradually direct the energy from one point to another.

First of all, you start to focus your attention on the big toe of your left leg. You feel and see the golden light that pulsates through this part of your body. This golden light will follow your attention and radiate healing, vitality and connection in your body.

Keep your attention in your big toe for a while, you can feel how the light is flooding every single cell. Now direct your attention to the next toe, then to the others, then to the sole of the foot, the verses and ankles.

Then continue your journey through the body over your shin, knee and thighs. The deeper your consciousness and with it the healing, golden light penetrates into every cell, the better. When you get to the end of your thigh, do the same on your right leg.

Then continue your journey through the abdomen. Guide your consciousness to each organ one after the other and stay there for a few minutes. See how well every organ in your body copes with its task and works in harmony with the others. When you get to your neck, focus your attention on your left hand and start at the tip of your little finger. Feel how the blood pulsates and is filled with the glow of the golden light. Then slowly go from one finger to the other and across the palm, back of the hand, joints, forearms and upper arms to the shoulder. Then do the same with your right arm. Back on the shoulder, the golden light hits the vertebrae of the neck.

Now follow the golden light over to your chin, mouth and every single tooth. After lingering a little at every point, the light continues to run along with your attention through your nose, eyes and ears.

Finally get into your brain where you can feel how the golden light radiates balancing energy here too. Now the light and your consciousness rise a few centimeters above your head and from there flooding your whole body in light. You feel cozy, warm and you are one with everything. Stay in this state for as long as you feel comfortable and then just slowly return to your daily consciousness.

Ayurveda says true healing can only take place through the body, mind and soul. No medical system and no other person can do this for you. Everyone is responsible for themselves and also has the potential to help themselves, or at least to support the healing process. There are many methods to learn self-healing. In essence, it is always a conscious directing of life over the mind and one's own soul. We do this every day, unfortunately largely unconsciously and with a relatively limited perspective. Since we are doing this permanently anyway, it is relatively easy to become aware of it and to take advantage of these laws.

We have summarized a few tips in our script "Science of Life" to make it accessible to our guests if they are interested. After booking, we will be happy to send you the script free of charge by email.
